MAD Committee Supports Buffalo BookBike

This month Lumsden McCormick's MAD Committee coordinated their monthly jeans day to support Buffalo BookBike, a summer literacy outreach program. Free, quality books to are distributed to children in parks and playgrounds throughout Buffalo, NY.
The Buffalo BookBike is a summer literacy outreach program. It is a vehicle to distribute free, quality books to children and goes where the children are in the summertime – parks and playgrounds!
- Keeps kids excited about reading throughout the summer in an effort to avoid the “summer slide” in which children of a lower socioeconomic status can lose 3-4 months of reading growth.
- Focuses on parks in disconnected “book deserts” and where free lunches are served to reach Buffalo’s most vulnerable children.
- Models active-living and encourages healthy lifestyle choices.
Lumsden McCormick established the Making A Difference (MAD) Committee in 2012. An employee–driven initiative, MAD provides opportunities for our professionals to volunteer at and donate to local organizations that are doing good throughout Western New York.
