"What does the (CITP) credential bring to your work?

As systems continue to evolve and the reliance an organization places on information systems increases, a need for understanding and expertise to evaluate these systems becomes needed. This lends itself well to accountants, who already work with auditing standards that require an understanding of an entity’s risks, including IT and how those risks could impact an entity’s financial information. The additional insights gained from the CITP certification process allows the firm to bring an additional level of expertise when evaluating complex systems. Organizations may also be seeking assistance from an internal audit perspective or as separate engagements to assess the internal controls in place as they relate to information systems. These services may be outside the scope of traditional accounting and auditing services, but we’re finding that more and more of our clients need assistance keeping up with the constantly changing cyber environment and the threats it brings."
