Lumsden McCormick was a drop-off site for Catholic Charities of Buffalo's Flash Shoe Drive, which ran from from November 1, 2015 through January 31, 2016. Catholic Charities of Buffalo received a profit for every pound of shoes collected.

Catholic Charities collected 5,415 pounds of shoes, which equated to a $2,166 profit. 

The net profit will be distributed among their 70 agency programs to help maintain the services for the people in need in our community. 1 in 11 individuals throughout the eight counties of WNY look to Catholic Charities for help. 

The Flash Shoe Drive is run in partnership with Funds2Orgs, which facilitates shoe drives that drives micro-enterprises in developing countries. Over 600 million shoes are discarded on landfills each year. When they begin to disintegrate they become harmful to the environment.  In developing nations, families dig themselves out of poverty by creating small businesses called micro-enterprises. These micro-enterprises purchase the shoes for pennies or trade other goods. With the shoes they then repair, clean and sell them in their local communities for a fraction of the cost. These micro-enterprises can be found in countries such as Haiti, Uganda, Bolivia and many more. 

 MAD Committee

Lumsden McCormick established the Making A Difference (MAD) Committee in 2012. An employee–driven initiative, MAD provides opportunities for our professionals to volunteer at and donate to local organizations requesting assistance.
