MAD Committee Hosts Second Annual City of Good Neighbors Corporate Donations Drive

Lumsden McCormick challenged firms Walsh Duffield Companies, Inc. and Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel, LLP to a week-long philanthropic competition dubbed: The City of Good Neighbors Corporate Donation Drive.
“The idea was proposed during one of our MAD, Making A Difference, Committee meetings last year. We meet twice a year to plan monthly charitable collections and volunteer opportunities for the Firm based on suggestions from staff. A suggestion was made to partner with another business for one of our collection drives and making it a competition,” says Ashley Allen, CPA, manager at Lumsden McCormick and MAD Committee Chair. “By including other businesses it not only increases the reach of our efforts, it’s also fun!”
Last year, the first year of the competition, Lumsden McCormick and Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel selected four local charities to be the recipients of the drive. This year, Walsh Duffield accepted the invitation and a fifth day of collecting was added.
The drive, running Monday, September 21 - Friday, September 25, benefited the Buffalo City Mission, YMCA of Buffalo Niagara and William-Emslie Family YMCA, the Buffalo Animal Shelter, and UNYTS. Wish lists from the organizations were distributed to staff, donations were tallied and, this year, the trophy went to Lumsden McCormick.
“Our Firm leads by example when it comes to giving-back,” says Allen. “Not only do they allow us opportunities to volunteer and give-back with our coworkers, it’s encouraged outside of the office, too. We’re happy to include other businesses that have a similar commitment to the community.”
